Covid 19: Trending Video; Great Harmony CDA Secretary Comrade Adesoye Removed from Ipaja-Ayobo/Ikeja Electric Leadership Forum WhatsApp Group
The issue of power outage once more became even more pronounced following a trending video on social media platform by a frustrated consumer expressing her frustrations and that of many Nigerians following the lockdown order by the Federal Government effective Monday Midnight.
The video which is now attracting serious attentions of the authorities via another trending video on same platform showing the Speaker of House of Representative Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila in an emergency meeting to address the challenges as he was seeing demanding from stakeholders on possibilities of having an uninterrupted power supply at least for a period of three weeks to cushion the harsh effect of the stay at order on Nigerians and to further assist in achieving its [order] aims.
It’s a different story for the residents of Great Harmony CDA in Ipaja-Ayobo LCDA who have been battling with darkness for weeks even before the stay at home order resulting from a faulty transformer, it has even become more worrisome for the CDA as its Secretary Comrade Pastor Elijah Adesoye A. Alao aka Alakins was removed from a WhatsApp group created to synergize between the Ayobo CDC and Ikeja Electric ”Ipaja-Ayobo/Ikeja Electric Leadership Forum” for sharing the trending video which his constituents are partakers of the gruesome pains of power outage.
Few weeks back, the CDA had informed our correspondent of their quandary from the frequent breakdown of one of their older transformers code named ‘ Alaja 1” which is currently over stretched as it serves over two hundred and fifty houses in the CDA while the other code named “ Harmony 4”and relatively new; donated by the Senator Representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola [Yayi] in 2015 is grossly underutilized as it’s currently serving only seventy houses far below its capacity and has constantly resulted to frequent breakdown of the former ‘Alaja 1”.
Our correspondent was reliably informed that the distribution company had failed to provide few meters of cable to connect the nearest street- Unity Street to the Harmony 4 transformer which would have eased the load on the Alaja 1 and save the community from its traumatic experience of frequent breakdown and low voltage, despite affirmation of one its [IE] engineers identified as Engineer Emeka on the possibility of connecting more houses to the newer transformer but that has remained trickery for years.
With the developments from the trending videos the Great Harmony CDA can only be hopeful that time will favor its community on the outcome of the meeting held by Honourable Speaker House Representatives with stakeholders in the power sector which may prompt IE to action by balancing the loads for these transformers and restore back power to the community as the community abides to the stay at home order of the federal government aimed at containing the pandemic of Covid 19.
All our efforts to get comments from the officer in-charge of communities at Ikeja Electric, Mr Ayeni Akinola has not yielded any results as he reads his WhatsApp messages with no corresponding response as at the time of press.
